“The Relationship between Speaking Skill and Technology”


Abstract

The main problem of language learners in Turkey is that they cannot put their speaking competence into practice. The purpose of this study is to find out the relation between speaking skill and technology which is one of the factors that directly have an effect on speaking. In this study, a questionnaire which measures whether technology has an effect on speaking skill administered to 30 advanced level university students. At the end of the research, it is found out that there is no relationship between technology and speaking skill. It is suggested that, while assessing speaking the evaluation should be process-based because technology is not a scale on product-based evaluation.
